Unit tests this week for 8L and 8M for the Ecosystems unit and 6/7 and 7/8 will be writing their tests for the Pure Substances and Mixtures unit.

History presentations for chapter 10 (Everyday Life in Upper Canada) will be done throughout this week and next.

Drama scripted tableaus will also be presented over the next 2 weeks.

Ecosystems: Unit Review: 8L # 1 to 17 have been assigned, 8M # 1 to 8 so far

Pure Substances and Mixtures: We are taking up the unit review questions from last week.  7M has done # 2 to 10, 6/7 and 7/8’s have done # 2 to 19.  The test is being moved to after Easter weekend due to all of this week’s special events.

Motion: Page 20 # 1 to 4 is tonight’s homework if not finished in class.

History: All classes except Mrs. McNaught’s have been put in groups for Chapter 10 and have their assigned sections for presentations later next week.

Drama: Keep working on/practicing your tableau scene for presentation to the class.

History: We are starting chapter 10 this week, there will be a quiz on chapters 9 and 10 once it’s done

The Grade 8 visit to Northern is this Thursday morning.  If you have not brought in your permission form, please do so tomorrow.

Pizza orders are due tomorrow, Scholastic orders by Friday.  Grad Photo deadline extended to tomorrow.

Not many posts this week as there has not been a lot of homework.  Due to student complaints, this will now change.

Special Announcements: Grad Photo Orders are due by Tuesday, February 17th, Northern tours are Thursday, February 19th, and option sheets are due by Thursday, February 26th.

Ecosystems: Case Study 5.3 (a) to (k) due: Tuesday, February 17th.

More Ecosystems: We have started a simulation on animal adaptations, this will be due late next week.

Pure Substances: We are completing preparations for our first formal lab on dissolving factors.  Formal labs are due 1 week from the date of completion in class, so look for a hand-in date of either Friday, February 20th or Monday, February 24th depending on whether we need a second class to complete the lab.

Diversity:  We have been completing an in-class information research and sharing activity on Arthropods, make sure all your handouts are completed.

History Test/Quiz (Twiz?): Chapters 6 and 7 on Tuesday for 8M, Wednesday for 8L and 7/8, and Thursday for 7M.

More History: We are starting a major assignment for The War of 1812.  Students will be creating a newspaper set in the time of the war.  Groups and specific roles are being assigned this week.  Due date to be announced next week.

Art: 7M - We are finishing off the watercolours and each student should have a portfolio of 4 completed paintings. 8L - The final projects are starting to look extremely nice.  Due Date: Friday, February, 27th

In order to be nice and refreshed for all this work, students can stay home all day on Monday, February 16th and relax with their families.
